The programme teaches simple mindfulness practices and integrates practice with relevant theoretical concepts.

Parents attending the programme gain an understanding of;

  • The impact of stress and how stress interferes with our capacity for connection with our ourselves, our children  and others.

  • How mindfulness practice enhances our capacity for connection.

  • Ways in which we can develop habits of self-nurture.

Nurturing Parents has been taught successfully in many differing family support contexts. For example;

  • Parents in stressful socio-economic situations

  • Parents of children with serious or life threatening illness

  • Parents of children with diabetes

  • Foster parents

  • Adoptive parents

It has been taught by trained staff in family support organisations e.g;

  • Hospitals

  • Action  for children

  • Barnardo's

  • Adoptionplus

FEEDBACK

What Parents Say about the Nurturing Parents course:

The Mindfulness course has enabled me to become “calmer” with my daughter as I can now take “everyday as it comes” which has helped me to manage her condition better. Mindfulness has given me the “opportunity to stop more” and notice “beautiful things”, like a rainbow and has enabled me to carve out time to “enjoy stuff”.
